SNIP Cruelty to Animals in the Bud

Every year, millions of unwanted animals are euthanized in shelters, abandoned to die on the streets or in the woods, or given away to irresponsible people who abuse them or fail to provide them with even rudimentary care. The good news is that you can help combat this tragedy, and it's as easy as sponsoring SNIP, PETA's "Spay-Neuter Immediately, Please" low-cost spay-neuter program!

By sponsoring a single spay or neuter surgery, you can save hundreds of puppies or kittens from being born into a world that does not want them. Your contribution of just pennies a day will ensure that dogs and cats will receive the surgeries that are desperately needed to stem the flow of unwanted animals.

How SNIP Helps

Last year, PETA spayed or neutered 7,641 animals at either low cost or no cost at all to the animals' guardians, who otherwise would not have been able to afford the procedures. PETA also assists shelters and rescue groups, spaying and neutering animals prior to adoption so that more unwanted dogs and cats will not be born to those already found stray or abandoned.

SNIP Truck Because it is mobile, PETA's spay-neuter clinic can travel to low-income neighborhoods and areas that don't have affordable spay-neuter programs. PETA staffers go into needy neighborhoods to distribute fliers to tell folks about the clinic. The "SNIP-mobile" then parks in these neighborhoods, making it easier for residents—especially those who don't drive—to take their animals in for surgery. If they can't deliver, we'll pick up! SNIP also provides low-cost shots and flea treatment.

Because we offer our services at drastically reduced rates, SNIP operates at a loss. The money we take in does not begin to cover the expenses incurred through buying medications and equipment and paying a full-time staff to operate the clinic seven days a week.
